#36: Are we giving the disgruntled a fair hearing?

Have you ever had a disgruntled employee or team member?

Silly question because there’s no doubt you have … or know someone who has.

Unfortunately, by the time this team member became disgruntled, their employment situation was beyond repair –  since in their mind, one line has been crossed and there’s no going back.

With that being said, it’s easy to simply pass the buck and blame their attitude and send them on their way …

However, if you do that, you could be missing out on a great chance to see an alternative perspective and upgrade your business.

See, oftentimes people with great ideas or unique ways of seeing the world become disgruntled and/or disengaged when they feel ignored or unappreciated.

They believe (right or wrong, you decide) they have a better way … but are never given the chance to test it out.

So with this in mind, wouldn’t it make sense to encourage them to vent to you on their way out … instead of doing it on a website like Glassdoor?

This way, you can at least give them a fair hearing, and possibly even uncover areas for improvement at the same time.

Now, as with all feedback, I caution against taking it blindly …

But you’ll at least want to give it a listen and determine if it’s actually valid by speaking with other team members.

Who knows, it might just be exactly what you needed to hear to take the next leap forward.
